/China at the Last Glacial Maximum
Abstract

The cultures of Pleistocene hunter-gatherers in China indicate diverse traditions, uneven in their technological development and differential geographic distribution at the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM). In contrast to contemporary palaeoclimatic conditions in Europe and North America, the last glacial period provided special, varied ecological niches for hunter—gatherers living in different areas of China.
