Phylo, Inc. has announced a collaboration with Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (Tokyo Stock Exchange: 4519) to deploy Biomni Lab, an agentic AI platform for biomedical research, across its internal drug discovery organization. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The platform will support Chugai scientists in single-cell analysis, human genetics, disease biology and target evaluation by connecting AI agents with the company's proprietary research data and external biomedical databases. No drug candidates or research programs are included in the agreement, with Chugai adopting Biomni as an internal discovery tool.

The agreement follows a similar deployment by Ono Pharmaceutical announced a week earlier and marks another early commercial customer for Biomni Lab, which launched in February 2026. Phylo was founded by Stanford AI and biology researchers Kexin Huang and Yuanhao Qu and is backed by a USD 13.5 million seed round co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and Menlo Ventures' Anthology Fund, with participation from Anthropic.
