Daewoong launches sustained-release rebamipide gastritis treatment

Daewoong Pharmaceutical said Friday it has launched a sustained-release, rebamipide-based gastritis treatment, Mucotra SR Tab 150mg.

The drug improves gastric mucosal lesions, including inflammation, bleeding, flare and bloating. The company’s previous rebamipide drug should be taken three times a day after meals, but the new product has only to be taken twice a day regardless of meals, Daewoong said.

The new drug has been developed jointly with Yuhan Corporation, GC Pharma, and Daewon Pharmaceutical. The gastritis treatment has proved to be safe and effective in improving gastritis symptoms. It is smaller than one centimeter, easier to take.

Rebamipide is used to treat gastric ulcers and gastritis, increasing blood flow in the gastric mucus membrane, preventing mucosa damage, and facilitating recovery.
