Myongji Hospital was chosen as the preferred bidder for urban development in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province.
Myongji Hospital has been selected as the preferred bidder for an urban development project in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province.
Hanam Urban Innovation Corp. said it chose a consortium, led by the Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK), as the preferred bidder for the H2 Project because the IBK consortium marked the highest score in project planning.
The IBK consortium consists of seven companies – Myongji Hospital, Lotte Engineering & Construction, Kumho Engineering & Construction, IBK Securities, Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine, IBK, and SDAMC.
Hanam Urban Innovation Corp. said the IBK consortium scored 1,011.829, the highest among three bidders for the H2 Project.
The other two bidders, the Hanwha consortium teamed up with Kyung Hee University Medical Center, and the EL E&C consortium with CHA Medical Center, scored 915.658 and 904.029, respectively.
The H2 Project involves developing a 162,000-square-meter land around the Changwoo district in Hanam, southeast of Seoul, to place a general hospital, facilities for children’s activities, a hotel, and a convention center.
In Hanam, the healthcare demand is expected to rise following the development of Gyosan, a new town in Hanam, after the development of Misa, Wirye, and Gangil districts around the city.
However, there is no tertiary hospital in Hanam.
To improve the healthcare infrastructure, the Hanam city government made bidders for the H2 Project to include constructing a general hospital with an emergency center as a mandatory condition.
The IBK consortium plans to build a 13-story general hospital building, a five-story Oriental medicine hospital, a 49-story mixed-use apartment, senior residence, youth housing, a hotel, a convention center, facilities for children, and an ecofriendly cultural park.
Myongji Hospital branches selected as a general hospital through an open bid for private companies are located in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, and Jecheon, North Chungcheong Province. If it builds a hospital in Hanam, it will be the third.
Myongji Hospital is an educational cooperation hospital in partnership with Hanyang University.
The hospital won Grade 1 in the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s healthcare quality evaluation last year.
Also, the regional emergency medical center in the northwest of Gyeonggi, operated by Myongji, ranked first in the government’s evaluation of emergency medical institutions three times.
Myongji Hospital is leading Korea’s fight against Covid-19.
Named the best Covid-19 fighting hospital in Korea by the International Hospital Federation (IHF), Myongji Hospital is sharing its expertise in Covid-19 response with the medical community and the health authorities around the world.
In 2018, Myongji Hospital became a Mayo Clinic Care Network (MCCN) member, offering advanced healthcare services.
