Sky Labs unveils new all-in-one wearable device

Sky Labs introduced a new wearable device with a smart ring and a screen at HIMSS24 APAC, Asia's largest healthcare information technology conference, held at COEX in southern Seoul from Tuesday to Friday last week.

Sky Labs exhibited the all-in-one wearable device developed as part of the national telemedicine technology development project, together with the existing smart ring “CART BP.” At the booth of the National Health Insurance Service Ilsan Hospital, this smart ring measured blood pressure for 24 hours.

The new device is an “all-in-one home treatment multi-vital signs measurement device” and will be used for hospitalized patients. A silicone cover allows the ring to be worn regardless of finger size, and the wearer's health data can be checked through a display attached to the wristband.

It added oxygen saturation, body temperature, and respiratory rate measurement functions to CART BP.

The device also improved usability by moving the battery from the ring to the wristband, allowing for longer data checks.

Currently, the design is being conducted in collaboration with NHIS Ilsan Hospital based on the actual needs of the hospital site and is being tested on hospitalized patients. When it is distributed to hospitals in the future, it is expected to reduce unnecessary manpower waste and greatly increase the efficiency of patient management.

“CART BP has established itself as a convenient and effective blood pressure monitor for patients and medical staff,” Sky Labs CEO Lee Byung-hwan said. “HIMSS24 APAC is an opportunity to introduce and network with the latest medical technologies. We look forward to contributing to building smart hospitals with products that can improve patient care and medical staff efficiency.”

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is a non-profit organization that uses information and technology to transform the global healthcare system. HIMSS24 APAC was held in Seoul, based on the strengthened collaboration between HIMSS, the Korean Hospital Association (KHA), and the Korea Health Information Service (KHIS) following signing a memorandum of understanding on May 17.
