Kolon Biotech expands CMO/CDMO opporunities at OARSI 2025

Kolon Biotech, a subsidiary of Kolon Life Science, said Monday it showcased its advanced biopharmaceutical CMO and CDMO technologies at the 2025 Osteoarthritis Research Society International (OARSI) World Congress on Osteoarthritis, which took place in Songdo, Incheon, from April 24-27.

The company noted that this year marked the first time the globally prestigious osteoarthritis society hosted its annual OARSI congress in Korea.

Every year, more than 1,000 global experts from industry and academia across more than 50 countries participate in the event to share the latest medical trends and technologies in the field of osteoarthritis.

At Kolon Biotech’s booth, the company showcased its process development services for both early and late stages. The company introduced its “2D Automated Closed Platform” technology, which provides scale-up process design services utilizing commercial supply experience for early-stage clinical companies, as well as high-quality, high-yield products at reasonable costs for late-stage clinical companies.

At OARSI 2025, Kolon TissueGene, the U.S. affiliate of Kolon Life Science, presented data demonstrating the long-term safety and efficacy of TG-C, the company's osteoarthritis cell gene therapy candidate.

During the presentation, Kolon TissueGene detailed the safety and efficacy of TG-C based on long-term follow-up data (US LTS) from the U.S. and its potential to replace conventional artificial joint surgery. Kolon Biotech will also be responsible for the mass production of TG-C for commercialization and is currently developing a customized process for this purpose.

“This conference reaffirmed the world's interest in our advanced CMO and CDMO technologies,” said Kolon Biotech CEO Kim Sun-jin. “As the safety and efficacy of TG-C has been proven once again, we will successfully complete the commercial production of TG-C to further solidify our global growth foundation.”

Kolon Biotech has been operating a CMO and CDMO business specializing in advanced biopharmaceuticals such as cell therapy, gene therapy, and exosome therapy.

It has more than 20 years of experience in process quality and production of advanced biopharmaceuticals and operates a 17,000㎡ cGMP production facility.

The company is also developing large-scale commercial production processes that meet both cGMP and JGMP (Japan) standards, with the goal of commercial supply to the U.S. and Japan in the future.
