However, the amount of the investment was not disclosed due to contractual reasons.
Dalan, founded in 2018 and headquartered in Georgia, focuses on innate immunity-based vaccines for pollinator and aquaculture species. The company developed the world’s first honeybee vaccine for the prevention of American foulbrood and secured approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, with commercial distribution already underway in North America.
Building on this platform, Dalan is advancing a shrimp vaccine that industry specialists say could significantly change disease-management practices in aquaculture.
Yuyu Pharma said its investment reflects the group’s intention to play a more active role in the rapidly expanding global animal health sector. The company noted that Dalan’s platform is strategically positioned at the intersection of public health, sustainable agriculture, and future food security.
Following the investment, Dalan plans to broaden its research pipeline to poultry and additional aquaculture species, exploring vaccine applications aimed at reducing widespread infectious disease and lowering antibiotic dependence across livestock systems.
“Species such as bees and shrimp play a critical role in global food production and environmental stability,” Yuyu Pharma CEO Robert Won-sang Yu said. “The partnership demonstrates the group’s commitment to advancing next-generation technologies in animal health.”
The animal health sector is emerging as a global growth engine, supported by advances in biopharmaceutical technologies, the expansion of sustainable aquaculture, and rising demand for high-quality companion-animal care, he added.
Yu also explained that Yuyu Pharma plans to expand its portfolio across animal biologics, sustainable food-system technologies, companion-animal wellness, and community platforms.
Yuyu Pharma has increasingly positioned animal health as a core growth driver.
In April, the company invested in veterinary biopharmaceutical company VETmAb Biosciences and premium dog community platform DOG PPL. In July, Yuyu established its U.S. holding company to oversee two subsidiaries -- Yuyu Bio, focused on pet biologics, and Mervyn's Petcare, which develops companion-animal nutritional products.
