Medtronic Korea launches Kanghui spine portfolio to expand affordable options
Medtronic Korea, the Korean subsidiary of global healthcare technology leader Medtronic, has launched its new spine portfolio, Kanghui.
Kanghui is a new brand designed to deliver Medtronic's distinctive technological expertise and stringent quality management systems in spinal care -- from the cervical to lumbar spine -- at a more affordable price. This launch enables Korean patients to access cost-effective spine solutions that combine advanced technology and quality with Medtronic’s global experience, offering options ranging from standard to premium models.

The first product introduced within the Kanghui portfolio is the “ECO MIS” system, an interbody fusion device. It consists of screws and rods in various shapes and lengths, along with fixation set screws, to provide the appropriate size, shape, and design for each patient.
The system is designed to offer a tailored solution to promote better recovery and surgical outcomes. It is used for minimally invasive surgery to stabilize and fixate the posterior thoracic, lumbar, or sacral spine in patients with unstable spinal fractures, spinal deformities (such as scoliosis), degenerative spinal disorders, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease (such as disc disorders), and segmental instability, potentially reducing recovery time and post-surgical complications.
"The introduction of Kanghui aligns with our tailored portfolio strategy, addressing the rise in spinal disease cases in Korea and the growth of specialized spinal hospitals," Medtronic Korea CEO Yoo Seung-rok said. "Medtronic will continue to optimize and expand its portfolio to enhance competitiveness in the Korean spinal market, while striving to advance surgical techniques and foster better treatment environments in partnership with domestic medical professionals."
The population of patients with spinal disease in Korea grew by 9.1 percent over five years, rising from 8,912,158 in 2020 to 9,723,544 in 2024. During the same period, the number of spinal surgery patients increased by 16.7 percent.
Medtronic is the market leader with a comprehensive spine solutions portfolio covering conditions from the cervical to the lumbar spine. This includes spinal fixation devices (Solera, Infinity, Zevo), minimally invasive spinal fixation systems (Sextant II, Longitude II), interbody fusion devices (Capstone, Clydesdale), and artificial discs (Prestige LP).
By combining these with advanced technologies such as spinal surgery navigation, Medtronic helps enhance surgical precision and patient safety, the company said.
