CJ Bioscience to develop microbiome solutions with Sun Medical Center

CJ Bioscience and Sun Medical Center have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop customized healthcare solutions based on Gut Inside, the company’s gut microbiome testing service.

Gut Inside is a personalized healthcare service that analyzes gut microbiome DNA from stool samples using next-generation sequencing technology. The service provides key indicators such as the gut microbiome index, gut type, and microbial diversity. It utilizes AI to analyze data from healthy and diseased groups, allowing for a quantitative assessment of the intestinal environment.

Under the agreement reached on Thursday, the two organizations will cooperate on the overall business and operation of microbiome testing services. The partnership aims to jointly plan and review healthcare solutions across diagnosis, treatment, and health management.

Both parties also plan to gradually expand cooperation tasks, including the use of data for research and validation purposes.

CJ Bioscience will provide gut microbiome analysis technology, solution development capabilities, and operational support.

Sun Medical Center, which operates Daejeon Sun Hospital and Yuseong Sun Hospital under the Younghoon Medical Foundation, will manage the testing services within clinical settings, perform research, and provide relevant data.

The collaboration focuses on accumulating case studies by linking microbiome testing services with clinical sites to evaluate the feasibility of medical applications. The companies intend to broaden the effectiveness and application range of the Gut Inside solution through this partnership.

“A cooperative foundation has been established to apply gut microbiome testing services to clinical sites and review customized healthcare solutions,” a Sun Medical Center official said “The center will examine practical utilization possibilities for patient management and research.”

A CJ Bioscience official also said, “The cooperation serves as an opportunity to seek practical applications by linking microbiome testing technology with the medical field.”

The company will pursue service enhancement and business expansion based on experience and data gained from the clinical environment, she added.
