Boryung publishes 2026 Sustainability Report, highlights ESG progress

Boryung said Thursday that it has published its "2026 Sustainability Report," outlining its sustainability management activities and achievements in 2025.

The report highlights Boryung’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives and performance over the past year and presents its mid- to long-term strategies for sustainable growth.

In 2025, Boryung focused on ensuring a stable supply of essential medicines through a range of initiatives.

The company expanded production facilities to more than double its annual manufacturing capacity for oral penicillin antibiotics, which are designated as national essential medicines in Korea. It is also establishing a global supply chain to address treatment delays caused by worldwide shortages of cytotoxic anticancer drugs.

Boryung continued its efforts to promote public health by publishing Korea’s first patient guidebook for individuals with small-cell lung cancer. The company also sought to strengthen ties with local communities through employee-led social contribution activities, including coal briquette donation programs and payroll donation campaigns.

On the environmental front, Boryung declared its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 as part of its response to climate change. The company has introduced solar power generation facilities and expanded the use of eco-friendly vehicles to accelerate its transition to renewable energy. In addition, its pharmaceutical manufacturing facility at Yesan Campus was recognized for the second consecutive year as an “Outstanding Workplace in the Voluntary Energy Efficiency Target Program” by the Korea Energy Agency, demonstrating its achievements in energy management and efficiency.

Boryung is also participating in conservation efforts for the Oriental stork, an endangered species and designated natural monument in Korea. Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Yesan County, South Chungcheong Province, in 2024, the company has contributed to population preservation and habitat improvement through activities such as installing artificial nesting towers and participating in habitat clean-up programs.

The company also made progress in ethical management. Throughout the year, Boryung regularly provided employees with training on the Fair Trade Act and the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act. Additional measures included mandatory compliance education for executives and senior management, as well as the appointment of a compliance officer, with board approval, to further strengthen the organization's ethical governance culture.

These efforts were recognized in the Korea Fair Trade Commission’s 2025 Compliance Program (CP) assessment, where Boryung received an A rating.
