Emocog teams up with HanshinMedipia to digitalize brain health screening

Digital healthcare company Emocog has signed a memorandum of understanding with health screening provider HanshinMedipia to collaborate on the digitalization of brain health screening services.

The partnership will integrate Emocog's clinician-focused cognitive health platform, Cogcheck, with HanshinMedipia's comprehensive health screening and PET-CT-based diagnostic infrastructure. The goal is to improve patient access to cognitive assessments, streamline clinical workflows, and establish a seamless care pathway linking initial cognitive risk screening with advanced diagnostic testing and follow-up management, Emocog noted.

The agreement comes as the importance of early detection and intervention in cognitive disorders has grown amid Korea's transition into a super-aged society and evolving treatment options for Alzheimer's disease. Healthcare providers are increasingly seeking more efficient referral systems that reduce waiting times and simplify scheduling for patients requiring advanced diagnostic evaluations.

HanshinMedipia operates comprehensive health screening programs, advanced imaging services, and specialist medical care. Equipped with a range of diagnostic technologies, including PET-CT, the institution offers rapid access to advanced examinations and timely reporting of results.

Under the agreement, the two companies plan to cooperate in several areas, including:

ㆍIntegrating Cogcheck into brain health screening services;

ㆍDigitalizing referral, appointment, and screening management processes;

ㆍEstablishing a PET-CT-based advanced diagnostic referral system;

ㆍConducting joint marketing to promote brain health screening; and

ㆍDeveloping early screening programs targeting older adults.

Cogcheck is Emocog's integrated clinical platform that connects digital cognitive assessment, blood-based screening tests, PET-CT-based confirmatory diagnostics, and digital therapeutics within a single clinical workflow.

Through the collaboration, the companies aim to digitize screening operations and create an efficient care model that enables patients identified as at risk of cognitive impairment to transition smoothly to PET-CT imaging and, when necessary, to subsequent clinical management.

The integrated system is expected to provide patients with a more structured pathway from screening to advanced diagnostics and follow-up care, while allowing healthcare professionals to manage the entire process—from assessment through treatment—on a single platform.

The partnership is significant in that it seeks to establish a patient-centered cognitive health management model spanning routine health screening, early detection, PET-CT-based precision diagnosis, and ongoing care.

Emocog has been building a comprehensive cognitive healthcare ecosystem centered on its digital cognitive assessment solution, Cogscreen; the clinician platform, Cogcheck; and Cogthera, Korea's first digital therapeutic approved for patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The company is also introducing the Simoa, a blood-based Alzheimer's screening platform, in Korea under an exclusive distribution agreement with U.S.-based Quanterix.

Kang Han-seung, CEO of HanshinMedipia, said demand for systematic and efficient brain health screening services is increasing as the population ages.

"Through our collaboration with Emocog, we will strengthen patient-centered brain health screening services and provide a more convenient environment for cognitive health management," he added.

Emocog's digital therapeutic Cogthera has been introduced at more than 80 medical institutions nationwide and has surpassed 1,600 cumulative prescriptions. The company recently released real-world clinical data based on 1,009 prescriptions and held a special symposium for psychiatrists and neurologists to share real-world prescribing experience and treatment strategies for patients with mild cognitive impairment.

Emocog said the partnership will further expand the clinical application of its cognitive healthcare platform by connecting patient care across routine health screening, PET-CT-based precision diagnostics, and digital therapeutics.
