Lizhu Likang V-01 COVID-19 sequential booster vaccination first dose has started.

On the morning of September 21, the first dose ceremony for the sequential booster vaccination of the 2.0 version innovative recombinant novel coronavirus fusion protein vaccine (referred to as Likang V-01) by Livzon Pharmaceutical Group was held at the Livzon Pharmaceutical Group headquarters in Zhuhai. Attendees included Lv Yuyin, Secretary of the Zhuhai Municipal Committee and Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of Hengqin, Huang Zhihao, Deputy Secretary of the Zhuhai Municipal Committee and Mayor of Zhuhai, Wu Shi, Standing Committee Member of the Zhuhai Municipal Committee, Secretary-General, and Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee, Yang Chuan, Standing Committee Member and Executive Vice Mayor of Zhuhai, Zhang Chen, Deputy Mayor of Zhuhai, Wen Hua, Member of the Zhuhai Municipal Government Party Group and Secretary-General, Liang Yaobin, Secretary of the Jinwan District Committee and Secretary of the Development Zone Party Working Committee, Su Shengfeng, First Inspector of the Guangdong Provincial Drug Administration, Wu Shengming, President of the Guangdong Provincial Preventive Medicine Association, Wu Qunyue, Director of the Guangdong Provincial Drug Testing Institute, and other relevant leaders and experts. The first dose ceremony set up five vaccination sites at Zhuhai People's Hospital, the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, Zhuhai Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital Jinwan Central Hospital, and the Fifth People's Hospital of Zhuhai, with nearly a hundred citizens participating in the first batch of vaccinations.

At the ceremony, Su Shengfeng, First Inspector of the Guangdong Provincial Drug Administration, and Yang Chuan, Standing Committee Member and Executive Vice Mayor of Zhuhai, delivered speeches congratulating the approval of Likang V-01 for sequential booster immunization for emergency use. Chairman Zhu Baoguo, on behalf of Health Yuan and Livzon Pharmaceutical Group, thanked government leaders at all levels, experts, and media friends for their strong support during the research and development process of Likang V-01. He stated that the Likang V-01 project concentrated the R&D efforts of Health Yuan Group and Livzon Pharmaceutical Group, with him personally serving as the overall commander, and over 200 R&D personnel worked hard for two years and 39 days to finally achieve results. The economic benefits brought by the vaccine are currently difficult to estimate, but we hope to provide more vaccine options for combating the pandemic. Regardless of success or failure, developing a COVID-19 vaccine is the most important thing in over thirty years of pharmaceutical work. We hope to provide stronger support for everyone's health in the current severe global pandemic prevention and control situation.

Likang V-01 was jointly developed by Livzon Monoclonal Antibody Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, using innovative molecular design and possessing independent intellectual property rights. The project was launched in July 2020, approved for clinical trials in January 2021, completed phase I and II clinical research reports in June 2021, and submitted a conditional marketing application after completing the phase III clinical summary report in February 2022, with emergency use approval granted in September 2022. As the world's first vaccine to achieve high protection against Omicron in clinical results, Likang V-01 features its "upgraded" recombinant protein immunogenicity and unique molecular design, innovatively integrating interferon, Pan epitopes, RBD dimers, and Fc fusion proteins based on the protein vaccine molecular design of RBD dimers, making Likang V-01 more effective and safer. The adjuvant of a vaccine largely determines the efficacy and safety of traditional vaccines. Likang V-01 significantly enhances the level of neutralizing antibodies and generates effective cellular responses due to the fusion of human-derived interferon as a biological adjuvant in its antigen structure. Experimental data shows that based on two doses of inactivated vaccine, the absolute protective efficacy of sequential boosting with Likang V-01 is 61.35%, and the protective efficacy for high-risk groups (those over 60 years old or with underlying diseases) can reach 61.19%. In terms of safety, Likang V-01 also significantly outperforms mRNA vaccines and adenovirus vaccines. Regarding accessibility, Likang V-01 can be transported and stored at 2-8°C. Additionally, Livzon Pharmaceutical Group has established a production workshop with an annual production capacity of 3.5 billion doses of raw liquid and 1.5 billion doses of formulations, which can provide a continuous and stable supply of vaccines to combat the pandemic, alleviating the urgent demand for COVID-19 vaccines in both international and domestic societies, and providing better solutions for global sequential booster immunization.
