Recently, the final review meeting of "Research and Demonstration Application of Key Technologies for Prediction and Early Warning of Viral Infection under the New Coronavirus Epidemic" was successfully held at NanHua Bio-medicine CO., Ltd, a state-owned company listed on the main board. The project leader, Professor Guo Xinhong of Hunan University, and the review expert panel experts Tan Zhirong, Hu Xiang, Wu Jianping, Zhang Chun, and Wei Baoyang attended the meeting to participate in the final review. Finally, the expert group agreed that the project had completed various assessment tasks, met the requirements of assessment indicators, achieved the project research goals, and made innovative breakthroughs in the research and demonstration application of key technologies for prediction and early warning of viral infectious diseases. The results were highly integrated, the demonstration application effect was good, and it had good prospects for promotion and application. They agreed that the project passed the acceptance review.

In May 2021, NanHua Bio-medicine CO., Ltd and the School of Biology of Hunan University jointly established the Hunan Provincial Public Health and Epidemic Prevention Engineering Research Center. The "Research and Demonstration Application of Key Technologies for Prediction and Early Warning of Viral Infection under the New Coronavirus Epidemic" is one of the center's research projects. The project established a platform to monitor and predict the COVID-19 epidemic based on Baidu Index big data, conducted genetic diversity analysis of the COVID-19 virus, developed 7 specific RNA genetic barcodes that can infect human coronaviruses, and established a barcode database, revealing new mechanisms of pathogen molecular evolution. The completion of the project will enhance our understanding of the diversity of emerging virus databases, as well as virus toxicity, transmissibility, and human infection mechanisms, and provide basic data resources and fast and effective methods and tools for prediction and early warning of new emerging viruses.
