A hand vacuum cleaner has an air flow path extending from a nozzle having a dirty air inlet. The hand vacuum cleaner has a forward portion and a rearward portion, the forward portion comprises an air treatment chamber and the rearward portion comprises the suction motor. The forward portion is rotationally mounted with respect to the rearward portion.

The hand vacuum cleaner has a forward portion and a rearward portion, the forward portion comprises an air treatment chamber and the rearward portion comprises the suction motor.
