Abstract
An add-on module for an injection device including a dispense indicator visible through a viewing window in a device housing and the housing defines a longitudinal axis for the injection device. The add-on module includes an optical flow sensor fixed to the add-on module and configured to track movement of the dispense indicator relative to the housing through the viewing window. A processor programmed to run an algorithm enabling optical flow computation from optical flow sensor data is provided, and the add-on module is adapted to be i) releasably attached to the housing and ii) axially and rotationally fixed to the housing when attached.
