/Fraud Detection For Treasury Checks
Abstract

A risk assessment system may include one or more processors and a memory having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to receive check information associated with a treasury check from a receiving institution. The check information includes a first payee name, a check number, an amount, and a routing number. The instructions cause the processors to send the check information to an issuing treasury institution and to receive, from the treasury institution, a second payee name. The second payee name was printed on the check by the treasury institution. The instructions cause the processors to determine whether the check has already been redeemed at another institution. The instructions cause the processors to provide a response to the receiving institution, the response including the second payee name or an indication of whether the first and second payee name match.
