A die-to-die communication interface includes a first die comprising a first plurality of transceivers and a second die comprising a second plurality of transceivers, wherein ones of the first and second plurality of transceivers are simultaneous bidirectional transceivers. A plurality of data lanes are coupled to the first plurality of transceivers to respective ones of the second plurality of transceivers. First encoding logic is disposed on the first die and second encoding logic is disposed on the second die. The first and second encoding logic are configured to invert bits transmitted by selected transceivers on the first die and the second die, respectively, according to a predetermined pattern that distributes all four combinations of transmitted signal polarities evenly across the plurality of data lanes.
