According to an embodiment of the disclosure, a dryer includes a main body; a drum rotatably installed inside the main body and configured to accommodate an object to be dried; a driving device configured to provide a rotational force to the drum; a plurality of lifters mounted on an inner circumferential surface of the drum; and a processor configured to control the driving device, wherein at least one lifter of the plurality of lifters may include at least one sterilizing lamp, and the processor may be configured to determine a reference position of the at least one lifter including the at least one sterilizing lamp, and control the driving device to locate the at least one lifter including the at least one sterilizing lamp at the reference position.
