Intelligent band switching for telecommunications is disclosed. User equipment (UE) operates in a multi-band low frequency mode by aggregating two or more frequency bands of less than 1 GHz. The UE measures the received signal strength and determines whether the current signal is adequate to maintain the multi-band aggregation. If the signal strength is found to be inadequate, for instance, by falling below a minimum threshold for a specific duration or frequency, the UE is reconfigured to use either a single frequency band of less than 1 GHz or a combination of a low-frequency band and a high-frequency band of 1.7 GHz or more. Communication is maintained between the UE and a radio access network (RAN) using the reconfigured band selection.
