Abstract
A screed plate for a screed assembly to be towed by a mobile paver has a lower textured surface including a plurality of protruding elements arranged in a gradation pattern. The gradation pattern is characterized by an increasing number or density of protruding elements between a forward leading edge and a rearward trailing edge of the screed plate. The gradation pattern is also characterized by a decreasing size of the protruding elements between the forward leading edge and the rearward trailing edge. The protruding elements may be shaped as oblong rhombic pyramids defining channeling grooves there between.

What is claimed is:
A screed plate for a screed assembly to be towed by a mobile paver has a lower textured surface including a plurality of protruding elements arranged in a gradation pattern. The gradation pattern is characterized by an increasing number or density of protruding elements between a forward leading edge and a rearward trailing edge of the screed plate. The gradation pattern is also characterized by a decreasing size of the protruding elements between the forward leading edge and the rearward trailing edge. The protruding elements may be shaped as oblong rhombic pyramids defining channeling grooves there between.
