A power tool includes a power tool housing, a motor, and a tool that generates debris. A fan induces a flow of debris into the housing and through a discharge outlet. A removable filter separates debris from the flow and stores the debris in a collection container. The filter has an opening with a valve that automatically moves to an open position when attached to the power tool housing, such that the opening of the filter is in fluid communication with the discharge outlet, and to a closed position when removed from the power tool, preventing debris escape. The valve is biased to the closed position by a spring. The filter also includes a spring-biased door that opens when the filter is attached to the power tool housing, aligning with the discharge outlet, and closes when removed from the power tool housing, sealing the inlet opening.
