An induction heating apparatus may include: first heating portions respectively including: a first coil, and a first sensor configured to detect a container at the respective first heating portion; second heating portions respectively including: a second coil, and a second sensor configured to detect the container at the respective second heating portion; an input portion configured to receive a user input including a heating level; a memory that stores a heating output corresponding to the received heating level, and a number of first and/or second heating portions occupied by the container; and a controller configured to: based on data output by the respective first and/or second sensors, determine the number of first and/or second heating portions occupied by the container, and control at least one first heating portion and/or second heating portion occupied by the container to output a heating output corresponding to the stored heating output.
