An indication of a portion of a virtual background to be associated with dynamic content is received. The dynamic content is obtained from a dynamic content source. Representation handling criteria for positioning a representation of a conference participant relative to the dynamic content are received. An image is generated. Generating the image includes positioning the representation of the conference participant according to the representation handling criteria and including the dynamic content within the portion of the virtual background. The image is then transmitted for display at a device of another conference participant.
