A communication method and apparatus, where in the method, a terminal device determines a time domain configuration of first information, where the time domain configuration of the first information indicates N transmission occasions of the first information, the first information includes at least one of system information, paging information, and paging early indication information, and N is a positive integer; receives first indication information, where the first indication information indicates M transmission occasions in the N transmission occasions; and receives the first information in one or more transmission occasions in the M transmission occasions, where M is a positive integer, and M≤N.
