Abstract

A rotating electric machine includes a stator having a stator coil, and a rotor radially opposed to the stator. The rotor has: main pole portions provided respectively for magnetic poles, which are aligned in a circumferential direction, and each protruding in a radial direction; and a field coil wound on each of the main pole portions. The field coil has a first coil section and a second coil section. The rotating electric machine further includes an electrical path connected in parallel with at least one of the first and second coil sections. The electrical path is configured to have electric current flowing therethrough in one direction.

What is claimed is:

A rotating electric machine includes a stator having a stator coil, and a rotor radially opposed to the stator. The rotor has: main pole portions provided respectively for magnetic poles, which are aligned in a circumferential direction, and each protruding in a radial direction; and a field coil wound on each of the main pole portions. The field coil has a first coil section and a second coil section. The rotating electric machine further includes an electrical path connected in parallel with at least one of the first and second coil sections. The electrical path is configured to have electric current flowing therethrough in one direction.
