A bag includes a shell with a bottom, sides, and an opening defining a storage space for containing items. Lights are attached to the shell to illuminate the interior, activated by a switch that may be motion-activated, manually operated, or triggered by sensors such as heat, proximity, flap position, or zipper status. The lights may include RGB lights or image projectors. A locking mechanism includes a latch on a flap and a latch connector on the shell, configured to secure the flap in a closed position. A piezoelectric pad on the flap generates electricity when pressed, powering an ASIC controller that activates a shape memory alloy (SMA) wire through a power management circuit. The SMA wire contracts to mechanically actuate the latch mechanism between locked and unlocked states. Power is supplied by a battery, rechargeable via a solar panel or hand crank. External indicator lights provide status feedback.
