The apparatus includes a transceiver, memory, including one or more storage media, for storing instructions, and at least one processor including processing circuitry communicatively coupled to the transceiver and the memory, wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor individually or collectively, cause the device to transmit reference signals to a terminal, receive, from the terminal, channel state information (CSI) related to the reference signals, determine whether a first rank of a rank indicator included in the channel state information is greater than a threshold value, in a case that the first rank is greater than the threshold value, generate first downlink data based on a first precoding matrix corresponding to a second rank greater than the first rank, and in a case that the first rank is less than or equal to the threshold value, generate second downlink data based on a second precoding matrix corresponding to the first rank.
