A waste weighing system includes a weighing scale configured to support a removable waste bin having an open top, and a housing mountable to a wall in a fixed position relative to the scale. The housing carries a user interface on a front surface and a camera on a lower surface positioned below the user interface. The lower surface is inclined upward relative to horizontal so that the camera, oriented substantially normal to the lower surface, is directed downward and away from the wall. When the housing is mounted, the camera is positioned above the waste bin and is configured to capture images of contents within the bin while the bin is supported on the scale.
