/Apparatus For Performing Medical Procedures Using Radiofrequency Energy And Related Methods
Abstract

An apparatus for performing a minimally invasive medical procedure. The apparatus includes an elongated flexible conductive element, an activator unit, an interventional wire, and an accessory connector. The activator unit is connected to the elongated flexible conductive element and configured to selectively activate the delivery of radiofrequency energy. The interventional wire is electrically connected to the activator unit and configured to deliver radiofrequency energy during the minimally invasive medical procedure. The accessory connector is coupled to the elongated flexible conductive element and configured to connect the elongated flexible conductive element to an electrosurgical unit to deliver continuous, sinusoidal, low-amplitude alternating electrical current from the electrosurgical unit to the elongated flexible conductive element and to the interventional wire. The activator unit is selectively activatable to only deliver the continuous, sinusoidal, low-amplitude alternating electrical current from the electrosurgical unit to the interventional wire.
