A hearing assistance method includes: establishing an audio/video call between the hearing assistance terminal and an assistance receiving terminal by using call software; obtaining an execution instruction for a hearing assistance application integrated into the call software, and running the hearing assistance application in the call software according to the execution instruction; establishing a data transmission channel between the hearing assistance terminal and the assistance receiving terminal based on the hearing assistance application, the data transmission channel being a duplex communication channel for transmitting application data of the hearing assistance application; and providing a hearing assistance service to the assistance receiving terminal through the data transmission channel and the audio/video call.
