A component for a vehicle interior comprising a composite structure is disclosed. The composite structure may comprise a substrate/base and cover comprising base layer and cover layer configured to provide a surface effect such as visual effect and/or performance effect. The cover layer may comprise an applied material, formed/molded material, coating, treatment, laminate, film, etc.; the base layer may comprise a formed/molded material, polymer material, thermoplastic elastomer, foam/soft material, etc. The composite structure may comprise a multi-layer structure comprising a polymer/PET material, fabric layer, non-woven layer, formed/molded materials, soft/cushion layer, barrier/intermediate layer in/at the cover, coating/treatment layer, etc. The substrate may comprise a structure, formed/molded structure, panel, formed/molded panel, fiber panel, foam/resilient panel, composite panel, etc. The surface effect may comprise durability/wear resistance, scratch resistance, stain resistance, liquid repellence, anti-fouling, touch-feel/tactile performance, hardness/softness, friction coefficient, adhesion, decorative/color effect, etc. A method of making the composite structure is disclosed.
