Abstract
A lens control device of the present embodiment, in setting mode, the device acquires the detection distance and the focal length of the variable-focus lens when the user operates the device in manual control mode to focus on the viewed object, calculates the difference between the acquired focal length of the lens and the focal length of the focal length identification information relative to the detection distance as a correction value, generates new identification information corrected based on the correction value, and stores it in the memory unit, and in usage mode, controls the lens to a focal length corresponding to the distance to any viewed object based on the newly stored identification information.

What is claimed is:
