A Peer-to-Peer Community Alert System includes an alert device comprising an electrical transmission to identify an originator of the alert and an alarm light and sound indicating a threatening emergency condition. An alert hub triggers the alert based on a personal digital assistant in an originating home and from the originating home's smoke and CO alarms and transmits the alert to another alert hub. The peer-to-peer network includes an alert hub in the originating home in communication with other alert hub(s) in neighboring home(s). The disclosed alert is triggered manually, remotely as single or ganged with other alarms. Community alerts propagate between alert hubs in a direct serial communication from the alerted home to each neighboring home alarmed with an alert hub(s) based on pre-qualified levels of response and/or via a parallel broadcast directly to all alarmed neighboring homes at once.
