A system and method for cultivating mushrooms and plants includes an insulated housing enclosure having a shelving unit disposed therein. A plant growing area is disposed in a lower portion of the shelving unit and includes one or more greens racks configured for growing microgreens or edible plants. A mushroom growing area is disposed in an upper portion of the shelving unit and is configured to support mushroom logs or mushroom bags. A spore filter is disposed below the mushroom growing area and above the plant growing area. The spore filter filters spores from air received from the mushroom growing area and provides filtered air and carbon dioxide generated by the mushroom growing area into the plant growing area. Oxygen generated by the plant growing area is provided to the mushroom growing area.
