Abstract
Described herein are pet food compositions comprising an amino acid component comprising: lysine; betaine; and glutamic acid and/or a salt thereof present in an amount of about 7 wt. % or more, based on the total weight of the pet food composition; and a fiber component comprising a fiber source selected from flax seed, citrus pulp, beet pulp, cranberry pomace, or a combination thereof, wherein the weight ratio of lysine:betaine:glutamic acid is from about 5.4:1:7.6 to about 6.5:1:9.1.
