A back light correcting device including a process is provided. The processor is configured to receive an input from a user for specifying a region in an image, determine a reference region of the image based on the region specified by the user, determine a peripheral region of the reference region, calculate a luminance difference between the reference region and the peripheral region, determine whether an imaged scene of the image is a backlit scene based on the luminance difference, and perform back light correction by performing exposure correction in a direction in which a luminance of the image increases in a case where the imaged scene is determined to be the backlit scene.
