A method for assembling an autoinjector configured for dispensing a liquid product involves inserting a syringe into a syringe holder to form a syringe module, the syringe including a needle and a needle protective cap; inserting the syringe module into a housing of the autoinjector; and engaging a pull cap removably attached to the housing in a gap between a distal end of the syringe and a proximal end of the needle protective cap. An autoinjector for dispensing a liquid product includes the housing, the syringe holder, a movable needle protective sleeve, an elastically arranged cam formed by the syringe holder, and the pull cap snapped into the gap. The needle protective sleeve rests against the cam prior to movement. The syringe holder is secured against a distal movement relative to the housing by an engagement with the housing in a starting position of the needle protective sleeve.
